Planning Application to Daventry District Council for Wind Monitoring Mast at Boddington Reservoir Site

Published: 07/01/2010

Partnerships for Renewables, which specialises in developing renewable energy projects in partnership with public sector organisations, is seeking approval for plans to place a temporary wind monitoring mast on land owned by British Waterways, north of Boddington Reservoir.

The company announced last August that it is working in partnership with British Waterways to assess the potential for wind turbines on land near the reservoir, and earlier this week submitted a planning application to Daventry District Council. The application is seeking permission to install a temporary 70 metre mast on land roughly 500 metres north of the reservoir.

Tony Duffin, from Partnerships for Renewables, said: “A temporary mast at this location would provide information on the conditions across the site. We are aiming to better understand the wind resource of the site as we continue to explore the potential for a wind energy project on British Waterways’ land near the Reservoir.

“We are committed to designing the best possible wind development for the region and this requires us to develop a really detailed understanding of the local environment.

“If anyone would like to find out more about our work they can email us at pfr@communityrelations.co.uk or call us on 0800 731 7395.”

A public exhibition will be held in Byfield Village Hall on Wednesday the 27th of January, between 2pm and 8pm. The event will be an opportunity for local residents to come and find out more about the project and meet the Partnerships for Renewables project team.
