Benefits
Onshore wind power is one of the most mature and cost-effective renewable energy technologies. currently available commercially.
Green electricity
A single wind turbine of the type used by Partnerships for Renewables, installed in a good location, generates on average the amount of electricity consumed annually by about 1,100 households.
CO2 savings
As this electricity is generated without burning fossil fuels, it displaces more than 2,200 tonnes of CO2 per year.
Private wire
It is likely that the green electricity generated by the turbines will be fed into the National Grid to provide annual income for the Coal Authority to invest in projects across its portfolio. On sites situated next to a Coal Authority building it may be possible to supply the electricity generated to the Coal Authoirty at a reduced cost. It is likely that this will only be possible at a very small number of sites.
Community benefit fund
Partnerships for Renewables will provide a market-leading community benefit package alongside any future development. This will consist of a community fund, receiving an annual payment. The fund is administered by representatives of the local community, to be spent in any way that the community sees fit.
