Benefits

Onshore wind power is one of the most mature and cost-effective renewable energy technologies.

A single wind turbine of the type used by Partnerships for Renewables, installed in a good location, generates on average the amount of electricity consumed by about 1,100 households. As this electricity is generated without burning fossil fuels, it displaces more than 2,200 tonnes of CO2 annually.

It is likely that the green electricity generated by the turbines will be fed into the National Grid to provide annual income for the Environment Agency to invest in projects across their portfolio. On sites situated next to an Environment Agency building or pumping station it may be possible to supply the electricity generated to the Environment Agency at a reduced cost. It is likely that this will only be possible at a very small number of sites.

Partnerships for Renewables will provide a market-leading community benefit package alongside any future development. This will consist of a community fund, receiving an annual payment. The fund is administered by representatives of the local community, to be spent in any way that the community sees fit.
