Forthbank application to be submitted

Published: 10/11/2010

Partnerships for Renewables has confirmed that it will shortly be submitting a planning application for a wind energy development on the Forthbank amenity site in Alloa. The application will be for four wind turbines with an expected combined capacity of 10 megawatts, generating an amount of electricity equivalent to that required for more than 5,000 average households.

Jerry Sturman, Regional Manager at Partnerships for Renewables, said: “The planning submission will include an Environmental Statement, which contains an in depth assessment of a wide range of environmental issues which demonstrates that the proposal has been appropriately designed and located. We would encourage anyone with an interest in any particular area of our work, to have a look at these studies.

“We have been investigating the site for more than two years and have received valuable feedback from the local community throughout this period via public exhibitions. We have incorporated this feedback into our plans and will be holding a public exhibition on 18 November so that members of the community can come along and discuss the details of the application with the project team.”

"If anyone is unable to attend the public exhibition but have queries or comments they can contact us by phone 0800 731 7395 or email – pfr@communityrelations.co.uk. Details of the application will also be available on the website www.forthbankgreenenergy.co.uk

Councillor Eddie Carrick, Sustainability Portfolio Holder, said: "I would encourage anyone interested in the proposal to come along on the 18th and take the opportunity to discuss the ongoing work with the project team. Everyone involved is committed to developing a project that incorporates feedback from the local community and interest groups to ensure that any development is of the highest quality."

The public event will be a drop in and will be held in Alloa Academy on Thursday 18th November between 4.30pm and 8pm.

The results of the environmental studies will be available at the public exhibition along with photomontages showing what the potential wind energy development would look like from various locations in the local area.
