What Infrastructure is Required for Wind Energy

A wind energy development is likely to include the requirement for other infrastructure, including:

  • Access roads
  • Onsite tracks
  • Wind monitoring mast (temporary)
  • Substation
  • Control building
  • Crane hardstandings
  • Electric cabling
  • Construction compound (temporary)

Some of this infrastructure is permanent and some is temporary and used for the construction period only.

Details of all necessary infrastructure required for a given wind energy development are included in the planning application.
