About our Work
Oxford City Council has been working with Partnerships for Renewables to investigate the potential for the development of small-scale wind energy developments (up to three wind turbines) on its land.
The installation of even a single wind turbine would be a significant step forward for Oxford City Council's Climate Change Action Plan, generating green electricity equivalent to the consumption of over one thousand households.
Following the screening of the Council's land assets and preliminary surveys of the most promising sites, a shortlist of sites suitable for further detailed investigation has been drawn up.
If the results of this more detailed work prove positive, and it is decided to take one or more sites through to development and planning permission, Partnerships for Renewables and Oxford City Council will ensure that the local community are central to the development process.
