Our Approach

We work in partnership with public sector bodies to plan, develop, construct and operate renewable energy developments on public sector land.

To match the land asset commitment of public sector partners, we fund all development activity associated with the project, from feasibility studies and Environmental Impact Assessments through to planning applications, permitting and construction.

As a Carbon Trust Enterprises venture, we bring with us broad and in-depth knowledge of the renewables industry, allowing us to offer renewable energy solutions which are:

  • Commercially viable 
  • Technically proven

Value for money

We also recognise the importance to our partners of being able to demonstrate best value for money at every stage. This is why we operate an open book approach to every development to ensure the interests and legal responsibilities of public sector bodies are also catered for:

  • We cover the costs of all development activity, removing the need for partner capital expenditure 
  • We use project-specific financial modelling tools to present a clear idea of the potential revenues involved
  • We offer a generous community benefit package 
  • We are independent so can source technologies and equipment according to best value and land requirement, rather than to satisfy pre-existing obligations to an equipment supplier or operator
  • We are developing a national portfolio of projects which gives us the benefit of economies of scale and the ability to pass these benefits on to our partners
  • Where a renewable energy project is developed close to a load owned by our partner the provision of a private wire results in the provision of renewable energy at lower cost
  • We’re initially concentrating on mid-scale (2 -10 MW) onshore wind projects. But we continually review the available technologies to ensure we deliver renewable projects that suit the land resources and maximise the economic and environmental benefits.
