Scoping opinion sought for Wauchope Newcastleton

Published: 20/01/2016

Partnerships for Renewables (PfR) have submitted a scoping opinion request for a potential wind farm in the Scottish Borders.

The request covers three Forestry Commission Scotland forest blocks to the south of Hawick (see map). This is being scoped as a Section 36 project (over 50MW) with up to 20 turbines on Newcastleton Forest, up to 50 on Wauchope East and up to 20 on Wauchope West.

The scoping consultation will run until 24 February 2016, with exhibitions due to start in early summer 2016, depending on the feedback received. PfR have already met with a number of community councils in the area and will put together a comprehensive consultation programme in the coming months.
