Our Mission

At Partnerships for Renewables it’s our mission to work with public sector bodies to develop, operate and manage renewable energy projects on public sector land.

The UK renewables market is getting bigger: it’s expanded significantly over recent years, achieving growth of 7 – 8% per annum.

Despite this, renewables capacity is unlikely to meet the Government targets, with a predicted ‘renewables gap’ of 5.6GW in 2015.

With its millions of hectares of available land, we believe the public sector has a significant role to play in closing this gap and making a leading contribution to the fight against climate change.

Over the next 5 – 8 years, we want to work with public sector bodies to raise their capacity to generate renewable energy to 500MW (enough to power 250,000 homes).

To support this, we’re committed to providing long-term and economic value to all our partners:

20 – 25 years of renewable energy and carbon reduction: providing a long-term revenue stream which our partners can invest in additional projects and services to reduce their carbon footprint or as they see fit.

lower electricity costs on suitable sites:
where a renewable energy project is developed close to a load owned by our partner the provision of a private wire results in the provision of renewable electricity at lower cost.

value for money from underused land assets:
a renewable energy project developed on public sector land creates additional income for our partners from their existing land assets.

generous community benefit packages:
we offer a market-leading community benefit package which consists of a community fund, receiving an annual payment, administered by representatives of the local community.
