Chief Executive - Stephen Ainger
Stephen has extensive experience of the energy sector and not for profit financial services. After
graduating in Physics from Bath University with a First Class Honours degree Stephen joined BP where he worked in the UK and overseas for 24 years in a variety of commercial and operational roles. These included Business Unit leader in the Middle East and leading BP Exploration and Production Strategy and Planning in 1993/4.
He joined the BG Group in 1999 where he was a main Board Director of Transco and latterly Group Director of Strategy and Business Development for the Lattice Group Plc after the company was de-merged from BG.
He left Lattice in 2002 to take up the position of CEO of the Charities Aid Foundation, one of the principal providers of financial services to UK charities and donors in the UK and overseas. He joined PfR in April 2007.
Chairman - Tom Delay
Tom was appointed as the first Chief Executive of the Carbon Trust in 2001.
A chartered engineer with extensive experience of the energy sector, Tom worked for Shell for 16 years in a variety of commercial and operations roles including four years as General Manager of Pizo Shell - a Shell subsidiary in Gabon, Africa. He moved into management consultancy with McKinsey and Co and then as a Principal with the Global Energy Practice of AT Kearney before joining the Carbon Trust.
Tom gained a first class honours degree in mechanical engineering from the University of Southampton in 1981 and completed an MBA at INSEAD, Paris in 1988.
Non-Executive Director - Rosemary Boot
Rosemary was appointed as the Carbon Trust's first Finance Director in 2001. As well as fulfilling an integral management role, Rosemary is involved in providing strategic direction for the Carbon Trust's programmes.
Rosemary is an experienced investment banker. Prior to joining the Carbon Trust, she worked at UBS Warburg in Mergers and Acquisitions, latterly as an Executive Director.
Rosemary is a Natural Sciences (Chemistry) graduate of Cambridge University.
Non-Executive Director - Andrew Wordsworth
Andrew leads the Carbon Trust's commercialisation activities, which since January 2006 have been delivered by a wholly owned subsidiary, Carbon Trust Enterprises Limited.
Since joining the Carbon Trust in March 2002, Andrew has led the development and delivery of a number of new initiatives, with previous roles including Head of Carbon Management and Strategy Manager. Previously, Andrew was at Bain & Company where he focussed on business unit strategy and corporate venturing.
Independent Non-Executive Director - Alan Moore
Alan has more than 40 years experience in the UK electricity industry, beginning his career with the Central Electricity Generating Board. From 1998 to 2004, he was the Managing Director of National Wind Power (now npower Renewables), one of the leading developers and owners of wind generation and other renewable energy assets in the UK.
He is a director (and past-Chairman) of the British Wind Energy Association, Co-Chairman of the government’s Renewables Advisory Board, a Board member of the Ventus VCT companies and Chairman of Cowrie Limited, a fund which invests in offshore environmental research projects.
