Wind Resource

The meteorological or wind monitoring mast which is currently on site, is gathering site specific data mainly on wind speed and direction. This information is used to choose the most appropriate wind turbine for the site and project the amount of electricity likely to be generated. The information gathered will be assessed alongside existing historical data from the Meteorological Office to form a detailed picture of the sites likely long term wind resource.

The data gathered from the temporary monitoring mast (installed in December 2008) confirms that the site’s wind resource is compatible with wind turbines designed for the lower-wind-speed regions of northern Europe. There are a number of wind turbines available that have been designed for this level of wind resource.  It is of course important that we have absolute confidence that any development at Rushy Mead generates a substantial amount of renewable energy and is economic.
