Wind monitoring mast to be erected at Rushy Mead during the week commencing 10th November

Published: 05/11/2008

Partnerships of Renewables has announced that they will be erecting a wind monitoring mast at Rushy Mead during the week commencing 10th November. The monitoring mast will help them establish the viability of the site for a potential wind turbine development.

The Wokingham Borough Council Planning Committee approved plans to erect the temporary wind monitoring mast, adjacent to the M4 between Junctions 10 and 11, during a planning meeting in September.

Tony Duffin, from Partnerships for Renewables, said: “The monitoring mast will provide us with enough data to accurately model the wind resource across the Rushy Mead site and predict how much renewable energy wind turbines would generate. This information will play an important role in the design process, helping us to select the most suitable wind turbine model for the site and helping us to fine tune the layout to maximise energy generation.”

Three public exhibitions will also be taking place during the week at Shinfield, Arborfield and Lower Earley. The events are intended to give the local community a chance to feed into the development process and find out more about the ongoing work from the Partnerships for Renewables team.
