At the end of February our planning consultants Entec UK met with English Heritage and Berkshire County Councils Archaeology Officer in order to discuss how to assess the effects the turbines may have on cultural heritage features. Generally turbines do not cause any damage to features such as listed buildings, scheduled monument and historic parks and gardens, but care does need to be taken to ensure that the appearance or “setting” of these features is not unacceptably changed. To do this we have established a 5km study area around the site and identified the main cultural heritage features within it, including Bearwood College, Swallowfield Park, site of Saint Bartholomew’s Church and numerous listed buildings.
