With the agreement of Natural England, the government body responsible for ecology, various ecological surveys have been undertaken across the site in order to identify and map the different ecological ‘habitats’ and locations of protected species. These surveys are ongoing thoroughout the summer and include an Extended Phase 1 Habitat Survey, a Hedgerow Survey, surveys for badger, water vole and otter and bats. So far we have identified that several species of bats are present on the site including, pipistrelle, soprano pipistrelle and noctule. The results of this survey work may identify restrictions to where the turbines could be built and should enable measures to be developed to ensure that any vulnerable wildlife is protected.
