Sharpness Docks Wind Energy Public Exhibition Date Announced

Published: 21/01/2010

Partnerships for Renewables has announced that it will hold a public exhibition showcasing the ongoing work to investigate the potential for renewable wind energy at Sharpness Docks.

The event will take place at Sharpness Village Hall on Wednesday the 3rd February between 14:00 and 20:00. The aim of the exhibition is to give the local community further opportunity to discuss the ongoing work with the project team and influence how the work progresses.

Although at an early stage, initial studies suggest that a single turbine could be developed at the site with the potential to generate enough green energy for around 1,100 homes. Further information is required before the size of the turbine is finally established however it could have a tip height of around 130 metres (the combined height of the tower and blades).

Tony Duffin, Regional Manager for Partnerships for Renewables, said: “As with all Partnerships for Renewables projects, we are keen to ensure that the local community is central to our ongoing development work. We will hold further public exhibitions as the project progresses to ensure that the community is kept informed.

“If at any time it becomes clear that the site is inappropriate for the development of a wind turbine we will stop work. Should anyone have questions at any stage they can contact us by phone on 0800 7317395 or via email at pfr@communityrelations.co.uk.”
