About the project

undefinedPartnerships for Renewables is investigating the potential for the development of a single wind turbine at the disused mine at Wheal Jane.

The wind turbine is part of a sustainability masterplan including a number of renewable energy technologies which are being proposed at the site. The Wheal Jane Masterplan aims to create an earth science cluster and attract more businesses to the site, which is already home to a number of mining and engineering companies. Click here for more details of the Wheal Jane Masterplan

Wheal Jane

Studies carried out so far suggests that the Wheal Janesite could potentially accommodate a single wind turbine with a generation capacity of between 1.5MW and 2.5MW and a maximum tip height of up to 122 metres.

All our technical and environmental studies so far suggest the site is suitable for a single wind turbine and we will submit a full Environmental Impact Assessment with the planning application later this year.  We are committed to continuing to keep the local community informed throughout the development process.

With the need to carry out the relevant environmental and technical studies, Partnerships for Renewables expects that the project will be ready for submission for a planning application no earlier than summer 2011.

We hope to discuss the opportunity to supply green energy to neighbouring businesses as part of our future development work.
